How we organize civil society
TAAC Global is an organization focused on facilitating collaboration between government and civil society to improve the health of vulnerable populations in the Global South, Africa, Asia, and Latin America. TAAC offers expert advisory and targeted technical support services to civil society organizations and networks with a focus on policy change and monitoring implementation of policies and official commitments. Our mission centers on advancing reproductive, maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health (RMNCAH) development initiatives and programs aimed at fostering healthy, sustainable, and resilient communities.

Forming Collaboratives at country or sub-national levels
To more effectively affect change, diverse civil society entities and networks must coalesce around a common platform and organize themselves for collective action. TAAC supports civil society to organize themselves in Collaboratives at country or other sub-national levels (for example, a state in a large country like India or Nigeria).

A collaborative is an organized group of people or entities who work together towards a particular policy or accountability goal.
To form a new Collaborative, TAAC assesses the ecosystem and maps civil society organizations. TAAC facilitates this with careful attention to ensure inclusion of people at risk of exclusion within the assessment process.
TAAC identifies a Country Hub, made up of a single or a cluster of civil society organizations with complementary expertise and skills, who serve the following roles and functions:
- Strategic partnership building
- Coordination of TAAC learning, activities and technical support
- Knowledge Management
- Communications (on behalf of the Collaborative)
- Leveraging resources
TAAC draws on deep experience supporting civil society to collaborate through clear, transparent structures that foster shared leadership and accountability. We promote inclusive governance models that enable equitable participation and regular rotation of leadership roles among partner organizations, ensuring broad ownership and long-term sustainability.
Principles for partnerships and co-creation with country collaboratives
TAAC promotes the following principles for the ways of working as a Collaborative:
- Go local, be practical and flexible
- Leverage and complement existing partnerships and networks
- Engage with youth, grassroots and all those at risk of exclusion
- Be a learning collaborative
- All members are equal, transparency and joint accountability are critical
- Leadership rotation
